Preceded by a light meal, Don’t smoke that cigarette! by Kenneth Anger is proposed for the Opening Evening. Made in 1995 and lasting 45 min.18 sec. This video is an edited theme about cigarettes, about those who cannot do without them and who die, it illustrates the manipulation of the smoker, his manipulation by the tobacco industry and his consummation as diabolic.
This video is distributed by Cinédoc, and was last seen for a unique showing, in Paris in December 1999.
Presenting it in Marseilles is the occasion for the festival to pay tribute to this director, to his vigorously attractive editing and images.
