by Victoria Stanton
"Extrants 1" is an experimental work that deals with the fragmentation of urban fabrics. The source material, made of stills from Montreal and New York, has been computer-generated – the photographer's attempt to perform an autopsy of these stills, to create a spatial dimension for them, to mix and synthetize.

sadescription Las Vegas Shadows
4mn22   b/w   stéréo   2009   France
by Christophe Guérin
Las Vegas : a fast-growing junkspace spreads in the desert, populated by moving shadows. The urban frame and the crowd are condensed into one dimension to form an abstract image of the city, disembodied and melancholic. In a continuous movement that seems endless, the landscape is written.

sadescription Red Blanket for Two
5mn40   color   stéréo   2010   Portugal
by Jonathan Franco
An experimental video documentation of a homeless couple sleeping beneath a red blanket in a public open space in broad daylight. They remain like this for hours throughout the day, indifferent and anonymous to what is happening around them, undisturbed from noise and imminent danger. This event almost doesn’t seem real but some kind of artist intervention or performance. It could also be a beautiful love story.

sadescription Twilight Timelapse Concert for George Ives
4mn45   color   stéréo   2008   USA
by Neil Needleman
George Ives, father of the great American composer Charles Ives, was a small-town bandleader with big ideas about music and sound. For example, he would have several bands march toward each other from opposite ends of town, playing a different tune in a different key. George enjoyed the clashing sounds grow in intensity as the bands got closer. I think he would enjoy this tribute to his musical curiosity.

sadescription Collision of Parts
15mn   color & b/w   stéréo   2010   USA
by Mark Street
A kaleidoscopic reverie recorded over a period of five years in various urban milieus. An excavation of the concept of montage : small moments public and private brush up against each other, creating a charged tapestry of the immediate. Inside and outside, motion and stasis, home and travel, light and dark : a series of antimonies struggle to be heard and seen.
